FossDoc
The FossDoc platform is designed to automate business processes of enterprises (institutions). Most effectively the FossDoc can be applied to business processes such as:
handling enterprise documents (clerical work, document flow, document storage, search and retrieval, electronic document archiving, etc.);
dealing with enterprise business partners (managing contracts with customers and suppliers, making contracts, handling correspondence, etc.);
handling orders at service centers, customer-service enterprises (order queue planning, service monitoring, billing of services, reporting, etc.);
and others.
The business process automation is carried out in FossDoc using generic solutions . FossDoc generic solution is a set of ready-made tools implemented based on the FossDoc object model and designed to support business processes in the environment of a particular enterprise or a group of enterprises. Each generic solution is stored in a separate database supplied with FossDoc platform applications.
To date FOSS-On-Line has developed and supports the following generic solutions:
Electronic Document Management System
Enterprise Contract Management System
Customer Contact Management System
You may acquire a ready-made generic solution and customize it for your enterprise environment or host your own generic solution customized to suit the specific features of your business on the FossDoc platform.
Platform makeup
The FossDoc platform is built according to the classic client/server technology. The platform comprises:
FossDoc application server is a platform kernel implementing the basic business logic for manipulating FossDoc objects and classes and enabling interactions of client applications with the database of a generic solution.
Application server utilities are auxiliary services for configuring application server copies and managing databases.
Client applications are applications run by the platform users (operator, administrator, generic solution developer). The FossDoc client applications include:

|
administration program is designed to control users' accounts, assign access rights to users, create new folders, document types and their fields, write scripts, etc. The administration program is used to work out new generic solutions, configure and control the existing FossDoc generic solutions. |

|

|
and FossDoc client for Microsoft Outlook is FossDoc user workplace software integrable with the Microsoft Outlook application included in the Microsoft Office package. This supplements the Microsoft Outlook functionality with the possibility to process FossDoc documents. |
Client application utilities are auxiliary services for configuring user interfaces and customizing system event notifications. At present we are testing beta-versions of the FossDoc applications such as:
Web-server FossDoc, which is a server supporting FossDoc database work sessions via Internet. Using any Web browser you can gain access to the enterprise documents and references. Thus, the Web browser acts as a “thin client” (Web-client) of FossDoc. When outside the enterprise office, you can keep abreast with the current developments, as well as be able to monitor and participate in its work.
